This Galentine’s Day, we’re turning Mahjong into a celebration.
Our Galentine’s Mahjong Tournament is designed for newer players who want to try something structured without the pressure of a traditional tournament. It’s friendly, guided, and intentionally welcoming, with just enough competition to make it fun and just enough support to make it comfortable.
Expect laughter, encouragement, prizes, and a room full of people who are all learning together. Whether you’ve been playing for a few months or are still figuring out your tiles, this night is about showing up, giving it a try, and enjoying the experience.
Come as you are. Pajamas encouraged. Confidence optional.
Brand New? Start at the Lesson Table.
If you’re new to Mahjong, haven’t played much yet, or just want to learn before jumping in, we strongly encourage you to start at the lesson table. It’s there for a reason.
The lesson table will run alongside the tournament and is a relaxed place to learn the game, ask questions, watch play up close, and get comfortable with tiles and turns. Many players will begin their night there, and depending on interest, we may open a second lesson table as well.
This is not a separate experience. It is part of the night.
How the Tournament Will Flow
This tournament is designed to make your first experience feel approachable, supported, and genuinely enjoyable.
Players who are ready will take part in guided tournament rounds with rotating tables and gentle scoring. At the same time, the lesson table will be active for anyone who is brand new, wants a refresher, or would simply prefer to start by learning and observing. There will be support available the entire night, and depending on interest, we may open a second lesson table as well.
If you’re still learning, the lesson table is a great place to begin. Many players will start there, ease into the rhythm of the game, and decide when they’re ready to jump in. This is a normal and encouraged way to participate.
Toward the end of the evening, everyone will come together for a final round, bringing learners and tournament players to the tables together to share one last game and wrap up the night as a group.
This event is especially welcoming for first-time tournament players, people who have been playing Mahjong for under a year, and anyone who prefers guidance over pressure. If you’ve been waiting for a sign that you’re ready enough to try a tournament, this is it.
Your ticket includes entry into the Galentine’s Mahjong Tournament, snacks and sweet treats throughout the evening, end-of-night prizes, and a fully hosted experience designed to support new players. A Mahjong Auntie will be available the entire time to answer questions and help things move along comfortably.
Pajamas are encouraged. Comfortable players learn faster.
We’re keeping this tournament intentionally small so it stays supportive and easy to navigate, especially if this is your first time. This event is designed for beginners and newer players, and we ask everyone to bring patience and kindness to the table. Please plan to enjoy the food and drinks we provide and leave outside items at home.
If you’re new to Mahjong or new to tournaments, we would genuinely love to have you here.
Come as you are. 🀄💗
